Well, I think Alex hit all the highlights, but I may as well just add my two cents here.

First off, the competition. In stat Christine did really well- got a 67- which was eight points from placing. I got a 62 and had three disputes...two ended up going through, but not my two, haha, and my score dropped to a 52, two points ahead of Geordie with a 50, so the three of us did pretty well overall. On team Geordie wrote on the answer sheet left handed and me right handed so we filled out the pages really fast. In other divisions, the sophomores and freshmen did really well, but no one older than that placed. Natalie and Thomas did well on the Interschool and we got second on that, so props to them. Manhar and Sarah were really close to placing, too.

Ok, now that that's out of the way, time to get to the fun stuff: Busch Gardens. In our group it was Alex, Geordie, Joe, Nick, Ben, Chris, and me, and we had a bunch of fun. We started out by going on the Montu a couple times, and then on to the Shiekra, which I must say, is quite the intimidating ride. First time I just hopped on the back row, and second time I got to sit in the front. You get lifted up at near 80 degrees and then it holds you from falling for about six seconds. Then it drops you at 90 degrees, you go really fast, drop again, and it's over. Second run Chris and I played rock paper scissors for the camera and it was pretty cool, we looked calm except for the skin on our cheeks being pulled back, haha. Kumba was awesome, we hit up the bumper cars and log ride (amazing story, Geordie and I didn't get wet at all...not a drop...it was astounding...screw Erfurt saying it's the worst story he's ever heard) and then we sprinted from store to store looking for cool hats, and we finally got some- I think Alex summed that part up pretty well.

I borrowed some shorts to go swimming at the nice pool at the hotel. At first it was just David, Alex, and me, but at night like 8 of us got in the hot tub. When I took a shower my clothes got stolen and I got pantsed pretty bad. I finally got a pair of jeans back and that was it, so that's how I went around for awhile and slept. David and I had a massive war over the bed, and I clearly won (I had David in a really good head-lock) until he resorted to some gross tactics, but I pranked him back and took over part of Thomas's bed so it was all good.

On the bus I got 150 pages read of good 'ol Dark Tower, and Freddie Couples is only 4 shots off the lead at the Nissan open right now. Definitely gotta tape that, he's my favorite athlete of all time. I think my ideal role model is some kind of cross between Freddie and MacGyver; now there would be someone to look up to. Alright, time to go play golf and then watch the recording and watch the recording of our New York trip, too. Still haven't had a chance to sit down as a family and watch that.

My dad just offered to take me to Toronto, Canada with him tomorrow. He said I could miss the whole week of school and hang out in the hotel and wander around a bit. How crazy is that? It was so hard to say 'no.' Oy, Canada!

this weekend was fun...got 140 pages of wolves of the calla read, and got to play 36 holes of golf.

today i played with alex and it was cold and windy...we both played rather meh...started out really bad and got better...i was 4 over after 12 holes on the lakes which was decent in the wind...who knows what alex was at. after that our hands went completely numb and we just placed bets on stuff. on hole 6 i won a dollar for a closest chip across a ridge...we both hit ridiculously good shots and i won by 6 inches...then he got 50 cents for correctly predicting his ball plugged on hole 17, and i won $1.50 on 18 for a long drive. i hit it 300 yards so yea even if he hit it perfect i doubt there was any way i was going to lose that one. i love the freaking taylormade r5 driver.

edit: oh yea i forgot about on hole 15 which is a 260 yard par 4 we both teed off at the same time right next to eachother and it looked really cool because he's a lefty and i am a righty...the balls landed within 20 yards of eachother on the exact line...his ended up 30 yards short and mine got a nice roll to the back of the green. it looked awesome.

This is the first time I am ever using the 'mood' option.

I hate posting about the same old thing a lot, I really do. But The Dark Tower has now become a part of my life it seems.

I can see why Alton never went to bed before one am for a couple of weeks is what I am saying.

The fourth book, which I just finished- Wizard and Glass- really got to me. Sheesh, I don't know how, but darnit it did. I am really stirred up- the range of emotions I felt in that one...I even cried (albeit within the safe confines of my room) during certain parts (one of which the title of this post refers to). Joe told me he shed a few tears during his reading of it as well.

I have concluded that it is impossible to get through parts two and three of Wizard and Glass without feeling moved, assuming you let yourself get into it, unless you are a souless demon. Stephen King can go die in a hole for all I care. He has such a dark mind; and not just for the creepy stuff, but for the deep crevices of the human heart and soul.

But anyway, the quest for the Tower continues, and waits for no one.

I've been informed the next couple of books go back to the same 'ol, same 'ol- just like books one through three. I can say it will be a welcome disappointment, and I shall delve into book five just as soon as I have some free time (damn you b-day teachers!)

Moving off topic now, many people have informed me that my entries are really long. I am sorry if that bothers some of you, I am, but I promise they all start with small thoughts that turn into this. Writing this post has taken me less than five minutes- I simply type and break as thoughts come into my mind, and for some of my friends I think it is pretty entertaining stuff most of the time. I suppose I could make these much simpler- summaries of my life, me just complaining- but I rather use it as just a place to practice that elusive and awkward skill of putting thoughts into words.

So yea, even if I tried, I doubt these things would get shorter- I spend a lot of time in my own brain (too much time for my own good). I like to get lost up there, and sometimes some of that gets out as I sit here bored at my computer, trying to reflect on things.

And so it is. With everyday I stay home, it makes it that much harder to face up to going back to good 'ol VBHS. Even worse, I am now completely hooked to The Dark Tower. I read 300 pages today in between my naps. Unfortunately, it has become quite sad- rather, it is going to get sad. I guess I should mark this with

'spoilers...'

but anyway, little Roland is really screwed, and worse than that, you know how it ends: not happy. I did not expect to get this involved in Roland and his circumstances, but it seems like I have lived vicariously through him. It is really going to hurt. It's the morning of the Reap festival where I am right now, and I hate the fact that such nim-wits as Jonas and his boys are going to ruin Roland. It makes me mad. Really mad. And worse, sad.

I just wonder if after I read this I will want to read anymore of Roland's quest- up to now it was just a fantasitical journey involving a really cool hero and his friends. Now it seems like no matter what happens, there will be no solace for Roland. Who cares about the damn Tower? If the foreshadowing is correct, something really bad is about to happen that he could not possibly bounce back from.

Wow, Bio is a pain. I was up until three doing AP Biology practice exams last night, and it was around that time that that peculiar dry sensation began to manifest itself in my throat.

Oh, boy.

My tongue wandered back towards my throat, and the lacerations made by the dried skin peeling throbbed at the touch. I was sick; but worse, my throat was shredded. Forget the chills and aches; nothing is worse than when it hurts to swallow and breathe. I knew I wasn't going to school.

Yet I had to. And here is where it comes full circle. Bio. Ms. Haffield demanded that the test be returned and completed, "February 6th---no exceptions!!!" So I had to go just to turn that in. I stuck around for calc, too- we all helped each other with Euro.

I barely made it- I took two Comtrex and four Tylenol as I left. Sure I wasn't in much pain, but my head was floating all over. I went to the doctor's office afterward, and got an appointment for tomorrow. Should've been today, but they were full.

Something bothers me about sitting in physicians' waiting rooms. That thing is that everyone is sick- it's a pit of festering bacteria and viruses browsing and carousing through this bonanza of real estate called human bodies. Sure I am sick, but that guy over there is dying...I don't want that.

The highlight of the day was getting MacGyver season two, and reading 100 pages of Wizard and Glass. Tomorrow I get to play hooky once again, and with that I have decided to just enjoy a good night's sleep.

Well the last few days have been pretty busy...on Thursday I read 120 pages of The Waste Lands and must say I am now hooked to Dark Tower. As soon as I am done here that is where I shall go.

Friday we had a government test and despite oversleeping my alarm clock for study time I still pulled a high B I think. Gov is pretty easy.

After school Thomas, Sreya, Ben, Erin, Sabrina, David, Kyle, and me went to Palm Beach with Jessie. We all crammed into her truck. All nine of us. I remember ducking under the seat when we passed this one cop. We got to the Cheesecake Factory safely and all ate a lot of food and then walked around City Place for a while...we had fun messing around in the stores while the girls actually looked at clothes. We left at around 8 and got home at 11 because we had to stop due to the weather. Very bad driving conditions (tornado warnings). Well I finally went to sleep at around 1-ish and woke up this morning at 7:30. I was going to try to study stat but was a) too tired, and b) I studied on the bus to Palm Harbor for two hours and did awfully.

Today the test was nearly as bad, asking for all answers rounded to six decimal places (the bottom line is the calculator is now completely useless for stat). So basically I knew how to do about every problem but only got a 46 because of damn rounding. But I guess everyone had problems because Alton and I still placed (he got sixth and I got ninth). Our team got no points until question seven but still got third. It was just stupid. I am tired of 60s winning stat tests.

Beauty Walk was hilarious. Alton's future aspirations coupled with the Fegerts plotting world domination and making funny poses (and Ames in the duct-tape suit) made for a good time. And the names got mixed up a lot, too. Hey, my sister even walked and did alright. So yeah that was fun.

Tomorrow I have to do a lot of other crap like start scholarships and do science fair stats so the guy can help on Monday with our data. Haffield insists that even if I know stat I still have to see this guy. She also insists on us doing a full AP practice test every night for homework. Bio sucks.

Hopefully the weather is nice tomorrow so I just end up playing golf instead.

I do not feel good today.

Oh man, I love rednecks. When they feel like being friendly they know how to have a good time. My dad and I decided to play with two of them we met at the golf course today...it was great.

I suppose we should get to the highlights:

There was lots of beer drinking and jokes about why they play and their skill level...one of them sucked and the other had been playing for ten years and wasn't bad.

They also were impressed with how far I could hit the ball and my tempo, and would shout 'hoooowdy-hoo whaadda rip nicky-boy' after I teed off and such (like some of those drunk guys shout at Tiger on TV). I played the forward tees (whites) with them and didn't try to score...I just went with the program and played 'caveman' golf, swinging as hard as I could and who cares about where it goes( I hit several drives 270+...on hole nine I was down hill and cranked one 300).

On a couple other holes I talked to them about fishing (which I know little about) but it was still interesting. I chuckled along as they told some stories of some of their 'battles' as they called them.

So yea on the whole nobody cared where their ball went too much but there was lots of laughter and fun.

Alright, here I am once again in this situation that I've been in enough times to finally try to explain. I'll be honest it's hard; in fact, I can already see Sreya posting saying she doesn't know what the hell I am talking about and probably not too many responses. Joe will actually understand I think and Wesley will post saying he does but hasn't been in this situation. Maybe I am completely wrong and someone besides said people will say something or said people will say something different. Look, I've already lost Sreya.

Ok, here goes...

Sometimes when I come home I have about 4 things I sorta want to do. Today they involved watching Macgyver a lot, playing a videogame, reading Dark Tower, or driving out to Joe's to watch this episode of Reboot anyway (I have yet to see the show I've heard so much about.) Ok, it's hard enough to decide on a normal afternoon, but I will tell you what throws a real screwball in there: a medium load of homework. Not a lot, not a little, but just some. Tonight all I have to do is study history and calc. Usually I have nothing to really do; on that day where I let it all build up I have a lot. If I have nothing after about half an hour of just doing something here and something there I have decided how I will spend my afternoon- if I have a lot of homework I will usually just try to just have fun and go to bed early and set my alarm extra early. It's no problem.

But on days like today, I just deliberate on what to do- I mean I will chill and eat dinner, but then when I go to pick up my Nintendo or get ready to call Joe and say I am bored and let's watch that thing today anyway, the thought of the stupid homework assignment gets to me. No way I can do it now- it's not due for too long, but can I justify waking up early to do something that really doesn't take much time? Truth is I will not wake up, saying to myself- 'it's not that much, I can do it before the bell rings or in calc or at lunch.'

This makes no sense, we'll see if it gets posted at all. Actually I just decided it will. And I am sorry for calling Sreya out. I just remember the last time I described something like this she was confused. I have now confused everyone. Yay.

Ok, so on days like today I just take naps. That's it. Today I was feeling bad so it made it an easier choice. I will sometime late tonight study history, and I will look over my calc review in bio while people are presenting projects. When I can't make up my mind I just go to sleep, don't ask why. Geez it's only 6:30 and if I felt like it I could be prepared for tomorrow no problems by 7:15. But instead I am going back to sleep until I feel like watching MacGyver again because I got hungry because I ate dinner too early.

I feel like such a loser for actually thinking about all this. I am retarded.

I know I hate these but I can't bring myself to do my homework right now.

Well, no more vacations or three day weekends. It's pure work (well sort of) from here on out.

Let's review the important stuff:

Golf: 39,37, and 38 last three times out in not so perfect conditions. Pretty darn good.

School: Got straight a's on my report card and stayed in the top ten seniors with a weighted GPA of 4.65. Stupid business and science fair lowered that. But anyway, I am pretty happy- it really got close but I was strong in the clutch.

I knew it was coming, and I know it doesn't matter, but a part of me is frustrated that I only know two of the other kids with 4.0s, and one of them doesn't even go to VBHS. I guess it's their choice but class-dodgers are a bit irksome...I mean not to brag but I got straight a's in 11 AP classes. Not a single other kid in the school did that(Sarah didn't take AP Bio, haha, which is actually somewhat hard now) . Yet kids who go take honors get more recognition. I am done, I got into my first choice college and got scholarship/aid from them totalling nearly 20 grand, so I know it's fine. I have no reason to complain at all, do I?

Physics test today was cake, and speaking of cake, we had some for our history trial. We had a great funny line up prepared, but only got twenty minutes of class for our side to go and by then Ben had already set a very serious tone. I was going to speak as Dr. Evil the whole time, but Bayless said no and Joe told me not to at the last second despite supporting it up to there. But that's probably because of the mood in place; I'll admit, it would have been abrupt. Needless to say, Weissman knew his crap and they destroyed us.

Science Fair experiment done, and Palm Harbor this weekend. I am going to study the AP Stat Princeton book tomorrow on the bus, but let's face it, I suck at math competitions so no matter what I do I won't do well probably. But who knows, maybe I'll surprise myself. Yes, I know that isn't too positive, but Joe says I am an emo so I'll try to live up to that I suppose.

WIND

I played golf in the wind today and shot a 39 on the front of the lakes at Sandridge. It was amazing- one of the best days I've ever had in my life. The ball was actually blown off the tee by the wind on one hole, and you had to play for it on putts. The gusts were up to near 40 m.p.h. It was intense; balance was the key to success.

Friday the Thirteeth Putt-Putt

I'd say yesterday was a success; we finally did putt-putt. At first it was gonna just be Alex and me as Wesley and Joe dropped but then Brittany and Lissa came too so it was alright. Alex and I put $2 on the game which had some interesting rules: I brought an old long putter (it's about 5 ft tall) from my house and we rented the shortest kiddy putter which was like 6" tall and we had to rotate between holes.

As for what Alex was wearing...Alex went emo and wore some girl's outlandishly tight pants that incited such questions as, 'where does he keep it?' He also went with the typical black shirt and topped it off with a coat of eyeliner and some cut marks complete with cloth bands around his wrists.

As for what I was wearing...I went with a hawiian shirt and the dirtiest brown jacket I could find and left it unbuttoned. I wore baseball pants with mixed soccer socks and my sandals. The defining touches, however were the monster sunglasses, bow-tie, and band gloves.

Damn, we looked good.

We ended up tying putt-putt so no money there and then we played some air hockey and Mortal Combat in the arcade. We didn't know any moves and each won a game. As for air hockey, that was intense. I won the first game 7-4 but Alex took the second one 7-4. In the series deciding match I won 7-4 taking the title for the night. Many an arm and wrist were hit by flying pucks, as were the ski ball tables behind Alex. Wow, I just realized every game ended up being 7-4.

Lissa and Brittany got some pictures but were pretty bad at putting, haha. They had some moments of glory still, as I remember Brittany getting one (or maybe 2?) holes in one. They looked like they were having fun which was all that really matters though.

After that we went to watch Dodgeball at Alex's but I passed out like ten minutes into it. I woke up for the end though, which was pretty darn funny- there was a cameo by none other than Chuck Norris.

Wow, I'm hungry. I hate this though, because it's only four o'clock. It's too early to eat dinner, and we don't have any good snacks (yea, I know, usually my house is where all the junk food is.). I kindof feel like reading some more DT, but then I also want to do my math homework for the first time since early October. Then I also want to watch MacGyver, but that I associate with eating stuff, so that makes me more hungry.

What it comes down to is this afternoon will be like all others where I don't play golf- burn time on the internet and then eat an early dinner with MacGyver and then talk to more people online. Most of my conversations are fun and keep me entertained, but what a waste of time. Really, it's 95% small talk; pure procrastination. If anyone gets anything out of any conversation on AIM they've ever had with me, please let me know. It would feel good to know that something good was accomplished by it all. Maybe Cole was right about AIM- maybe all it does is make you not do other stuff.

So the real question is, why don't I do anything about all this? I guess it's the same way I know I could do well in math if I study or have done well on the SAT if I had focused. I know the solution to all these things. Not surprisingly, they all involve for me to cease typing this. Even though I know the solution and am very capable of carrying it out, I don't. It is nobody's fault but my own.

Funny thing is, it really doesn't bother me. I feel like I've accomplished enough in high school to feel good about it and I feel I have one of the most comfortable lives of anyone on the entire planet. Really, my life is so easy and wonderful. It really is. And I am happy- I could not sum up my life any better than with the statement: " I am comfortable."

And all of this is why I am so scared and excited about going to Lehigh nexy year. I am gonna do things I never even considered, and am going to be forced to quit being so lazy. If need be, I will stop the slacking; if I see that I am going nowhere, I'll be the first to act.

So yea, I think that is pretty much an analysis of my life at this point. Comfortable. I wonder if anything pre-college will change that...
